Pretty dimples (my daughter) whipped up this lockstyle in no time.  I enjoyed not having hair in my face for a change but,  I can't stand bobby pins they hurt and itch. This style has been up for 2 days and I am ready to take it down *-*

Weightlifting is never too late!

This is an old video Ernestine Shepard is now 74 years old

If you're looking for some inspiration to get in shape or to build up some extra muscle, look to 74 year old fitness trainer and bodybuilder, Ernestine Shepard. In the past eighteen years she has won eight marathons and still runs eighty miles a week. She currently holds the Guinness World Record as the oldest female body builder. Nowadays, Ernestine teaches fitness classes five days a week.

Her fitness craze got started when she and her sister went into a department store when she was 56 years old. They were trying on swimsuits and were a little disappointed with the way they looked in them. They then decided that they had to do something. Ernestine and her sister then started getting into aerobics. And though Ernestine's sister passed away some time ago, due to a brain aneurysm, Ernestine has continued on her journey for the last eighteen years, and look where that has gotten her!

Ernestine's message not only to seniors, but to everyone, is that age is really but a number and that it is never too late to start working for a better body and a better quality of life.

My 3 year old Sisterlocks!

Good Morning!  My sisterlocks are 3 years old today!  Yay!  I can't believe it *-*  I remember when I first started and the pain and agony I went through to keep them from unraveling.  Most of my ends are still not closed (sigh) and I have lots of bunching on the ends.  Should I take a chance on cutting them?  Or, should I try to undo the ends and braid them up.  Decisions, Decisions...But non the less I am really enjoying them.

The Orlando Natural Hair Expo! HairStyle

I went to the Orlando Natural Hair Expo and had a blast!  I couldn't believe how many locked heads I saw and they all look different and beautiful in there own way.  I was so mesmerized of it all and forgot to take pictures of the show. Lol!   Here is a couple of pictures of my hairstyle not the best pictures.  My locks are really growing just a few more days for my 3rd year! Yay!

Columunist Jawn Murray: Apologizes for ‘Nappy Headed’ Joke

I was listening to the Tom Joyner Morning show and he mentioned that many woman want Jawn Murray fired from his job for calling black woman Nappy Headed.  I don't care for the word "Nappy" but, many people use it.  I don't think he meant to hurt anyone and don't think he should be fired from his job.  After all he's natural himself. What do you think?  Do you hate the word nappy?

According to publicist Patti Webster, entertainment columnist Jawn Murray, most notably known for his daily column in AOL Black Voices and as entertainment correspondent for the Tom Joyner Morning Show, offered, today, a public apology for his joke that many people feel offended Black women.

On Wednesday, October 20, 2010, Murray posted a comment on his twitter page which said, “all those militant-nappy headed #angryblack women who didn’t think Tyler Perry was worthy of doing For Colored Girls can kick rocks.” Murray’s joke didn’t sit well with a quorum of women who feel his comments were derogatory and offensive to Black women overall.

In response to the many negative responses he has received (via twitter) for what he considers, “a joke which fell flat,” Murray has posted a public apology on YouTube to clarify his comment and address those who were offended by his words.

Says Murray, “I understand how things can be misconstrued and taken out of context in the social networking space. My humor has always been a bit irreverent, edgy and sarcastic, but I understand how this particular joke could have offended my sisters with natural hair. I sincerely love Black women and will never, EVER do or say anything to intentionally hurt them. I am truly and humbly sorry.”
